Mycetoma - main endemic foci

The mycetomes are inflammatory pseudotumor like lesions swelling through fistulas and caused by a trauma. The etiologic agents , fongi or actinomycetes, produce grains. The most prevalent endemic areas are in dry tropical areas and more precisely between the latitudes 15°S and 30° N, specially in India, in Sub-Saharan Africa and in Mexico. European local cases are rare. – Diagram realised from a projection of Mercanti –
