Main foci of amebiasis

Amebiasis is a worldwide parasitic disease, but it is by far more prevalent in tropical and subtropical areas. Transmission is related to the fecal contamination of the environment. About 400,000 people are thought to suffer a year an invasive form of amebiasis, and the annual death rate would be 40,000. – Diagram realised from a projection of Mercanti –
