Burkina-Faso – Collection of mosquito larvae

Burkina Faso : collection of mosquito larvae from water-containing old tyres, which are breeding sites for various mosquito species, mostly Culex sp. and Aedes sp. Slightly worn tyres are discarded, e.g., in Japan, then sent to thousandths kilometers far away to be recycled and remould. This kind of trade was a major factor for the dissemination of Aedes albopictus, one of the vectors of dengue fever.
