Plasmodium malariae – Gametocyte on thin blood smear (MGG staining X 1000)

This gametocyte of P. malariae fills about 4/5 of the smaller parasitized RBC. The redish nucleus is off the center, and the numerous hemozoin granulations are peripheral.
