Leishmania sp. – Promastigote forms (10 µm to 40 µm) in NNN medium (MGG stain)

Promastigote forms are the infective stage inoculated by sandfly’s bite, but are also observed in culture. Both nucleus and kinetoplast are at the anterior pole. Flagellum arises close to the kinetoplast, then merges at the anterior end.
