Acanthamoeba sp – Keratitis caused by free-living amoebae

Cornea was concentrically invaded. Center is thinner, close to be perforated. Keratitis due to Acanthamoeba is painful, causing “red eye” syndrome. Treatment lasts for months, and often the result is equivocal.
