Entamoeba histolytica – Trophozoite in stools (Masson's trichrome stain)

France, Pays Jean-François

By Masson’s stain, all the typical features of E. histolytica nucleus are well underlined: the central dot-like karyosome, the peripheral chromatine arranged in fine granules evenly disposed, and the network of fine granules joining the karyosome and the nuclear membrane are apparent. The cytoplasm of this trophozoite contains ingested red blood cells (hematophagous form).
