American trypanosomiasis – Romaña's sign during Chagas disease

Romaña’s sign corresponds to the penetration of trypanosomes into eye or eyelid conjunctiva and results in unilateral conjunctivitis and edema, followed by swelling of the lacrymal glands and of the submaxillary lymph nodes (oculoglandular complex).
