Chilomastix mesnili – Cyst (6 µm X 4 µm) in formalin-fixed stools

Pear-shaped cyst, displaying a slightly thicken shell at the pointed tip. It contains flagella remains, and has a large nucleus similar to that of genus Entamoeba. From a polar view, it may be misdiagnosed as cyst of E. nana, which is similarily refringent.
