Acanthamoeba sp – Keratitis caused by free-living amoebae

Cornea was concentrically invaded. Center is thinner, close to be perforated. Keratitis due to Acanthamoeba is painful, causing “red eye” syndrome. Diagnosis relies upon cultivation of corneal scraping or of biopsy specimen.
