Charcot-Leyden crystals in stools

Charcot-Leyden crystals (5-70µm long) consist of a pair of pyramids joined at their base, like a compass needle. They originate from the lysis of eosinophils into intestinal mucosa, and may accompany elevated blood eosinophilia of any origin, reactive or not.
