Charcot-Leyden crystals, and a tracheid in frontal view

Charcot-Leyden crystals consist of a pair of pyramids joined at their base, like a compass needle. They originate from the lysis of eosinophils into intestinal mucosa, and may accompany elevated blood eosinophilia of any origin, reactive or not.
