Snail: Achatina fulica

Snails of the genus Achatina are intermediate hosts for Angiostrongylus cantonensis. This nematode parasitizes the lungs of various rodents. Following the absorption of raw snail flesh, nematode larvae may invade human CNS and cause eosinophilic meningitidis.
