Trichobilharzia sp. – Egg

Genus Trichobilharzia (Trematoda, Digena, Schistosomatidae) parasitizes birds, especially Anserides. Depending on the involved species, the eggs pass in feces or nasal snuffles. They are mid-bulged (diamond-shaped), have elongate tips, and contain a miracidium. In temperate areas, intermediate hosts are various Lymnea species, according to the involved Trichobilharzia species.
