Plerocercoid larva, or sparganum, is 15 mm to 20 mm long and 2 mm to 3 mm wide. It is bright white, and not segmented. On the scolex, fixative organs are 2 bothridia. Sparganum of D. mansoni, a tapeworm whose definitive host is dog, may infect Man after ingestion of cold-blooded intermediate hosts, or directly, after application onto eye of a skinned infected frog (South East asian traditional medicine).
