Reaction between antigens and antibodies results in precipitation bands, which are seen after staining. The way in which bands cross or merge is indicative of the presence of shared antigenic fractions between parasites. In the present assay, sera from onchocerciasis or dracunculiasis patients were tested using an Ascaris suum extract.
