Hymenolepis diminuta – Egg (60 µm to 80 µm long) in stools

The egg of H. diminuta is larger than that of H. nana. Light brown outer shell is rather thick, and displays a finely radial pattern. The inner shell is seldom thickened at both poles, and never bears chalazas. Note the sharp difference between egg fixed and colored by MIF concentrate (left) and egg not fixed (right).
