Ancylostoma duodenale – Female adult worm (10-18 mm long)

Hookworms are blood-sucking parasites, reddish when fed. The male worm has a buccal capsule oriented backwards. The posterior tip is expanded to form a typical copulatory bursa supported by fleshy rays. Female’s posterior tip is blunted.
