Schistosoma mekongi – Egg (50-69 µm x 40-56 µm) in stools

The egg of S. mekongi is very similar to that of S. japonicum, but is smaller. The embryo is not apparent on this pic. The disease is zoonotic, and dogs or pigs are usual definitive hosts. The main focus is in mid-Mekong Basin, close to the Cambodia-Laos border.
