Schistosmiasis – Acid-fast positive egg in tissue section

Under pathology examination of tissue sections, the eggs of all of schistosome species stains acid-fast positive, apart those of S. haematobium. The egg wall appears like a festooned red lining, since eggs are always distorted by fixative and stain processes.
