Hydatid cyst in femur

France, Dardé Marie-Laure

Bone involvement occurs among about 2% of hydatidosis cases, and may concern any part of the skeleton (vertebra, or ilium and femur, or humerus, or tibia, or skull, according to decreasing frequency). A typical feature is the lack of host’s reaction, along with an anarchic growing of the larva that often breaks through cortical bone.
