Anisakis sp. – Third stage larva in herring flesh

Man acquires aniskiasis by ingestion of raw, or undercooked, or slightly salted, or smoked fishes or squids. The infection is often asymptomatic. The clinical picture comprises 2 forms: gastric anisakiasis, mimicking ulcus, and intestinal involvement which often complicates with ileus.
