Lymphatic filariasis – Elephantiasis of lower limbs

Lymphatic filariasis results in swelling of the limbs, breasts (lymphoedema) and genitals (hydrocele), or in swollen limbs with dramatically thickened, hard, rough and fissured skin (elephantiasis), thus leaving infected people incapacitated or disfigured.
