Fasciola hepatica – Cercaria

Once shed in stools, eggs embryonate in the outside environment, which should be moist or wet, and release miracidia that parasitize water snails belonging to genus Lymnea. In fall, cercariae emerge from intermediate hosts, swim actively then encyst onto aquatic vegetation, including watercress.
