Schistosoma mansoni – Egg (130 µm x 75 µm) in a rectal biopsy specimen

Rectal biopsy specimen is examined after crushing, then clearing by use of chloral gum medium. S. mansoni eggs are easily diagnosed due to the presence of a large lateral spine.
