Diphyllobothrium latum (broad fish tapeworm) – Adult specimen

Diphyllobothrium latum is the largest Taenia that may parasitize Man. This tapeworm may be 12 m long (on average, from 2 m to 8 m). Multiple infections are frequent. Humans get infected through the ingestion of undercooked freshwater fishes that contain plerocercoid larvae.
