Taenia sp – Egg (35-40 µm) in stools

Egg of T. saginata is enveloped by a very thick (about 5 µm) striated shell, and looks identical to that of T. solium. It contains an embryo, or onchosphere, that bears 3 pairs of hooklets, well apparent on this pic.
