Taenia saginata – whole adult worm

France, Gari-Toussaint Martine

Taenia saginata is also called “beef tapeworm”, since the larva – or cysticercus – develops in cattle muscles. This tapeworm has a tiny head, about 1 mm long, a long strand of 500 to 2000 proglottids buds off it, and may be as long as 10 meters.
