Fasciolopsis buski – Egg (125 µm X 75 µm) in stools

France, CHU Cochin Parasitologie-Mycologie

The egg of Fasciolopsis buski is similar in size to that of F. hepatica. However, the operculum is less wide, the shell is by far thiner, and there is a rough scar at abopercular end. This egg is not embryonated when shed, and it contains one ovular cell together with vitelline cells, all of these bodies being poorly defined.
