Clonorchis sinensis – Egg (25-30 µm X 15-17 µm) in stools

France, Le Fichoux Yves

The egg of Clonorchis sinensis (China fluke) is small, ovoid, with a prominent operculum and a “shouldered” shell. At abopercular pole, a small appendix is called “mucron”. Egg is embryonated when shed. The adults worms live in the bile ducts, so this parasite is a liver fluke.
