Dicrocoelium dendriticum – Egg (40 µm X 20 µm) in stools

France, CHU Poitiers Parasitologie-Mycologie

The eggs of Dicrocoelium dendriticum are small, brown and asymmetrical. They have an operculum, and are embryonated (A). Eggs in transit, found after ingestion of poor quality delicatessen, are darker since cooked (B). A mix of embryonated and not embryonated eggs is then observed.
