Trichinella sp. – Larvae encapsulated in muscles (fresh examination)

Trichinellosis is a zoonotic disease with Man being an accidental host. The life cycle is auto-heteroxenous, namely the same mammal host is successsively the definitive host, then the intermediate. Classical veterinary diagnosis relies upon trichinoscopy, by crushing muscle fragments between 2 slides, or upon artificial enzymatic digestion.
