Anisakidae – Larvae in herring flesh

Anisakidae family includes the genera Anisakis, Contracoecum, and possibly Pseudoterranova. The first intermediate hosts are plankton crustaceans, and the second are fishes or squids. The definitive hosts are sea mammals (seals, whales, dolphins …). Man is an accidental non convenient host (dead-end parasitic disease).
