Enterobius vermicularis (pinworm) – Egg (30 µm X 55 µm) on cellulose tape (scotch-test)

The infective E. vermicularis egg is on average 55 µm long x 30 µm wide. It is asymmetrical, and surrounded by a single, thick, colorless shell. A gyriniform embryo can be seen inside (see image).
