Trichuris trichiura (whipworm) – Egg in stools (55 µm X 20 µm)

This egg is lemon or barrel-shaped. The outer shell is thick, colored in dark brown, and closed by 2 mucous prominent caps. The inner shell is colorless and rather thick. Eggs are not embryonated when shed.
