Extraction of Anisakis larvae

France, Pihet Marc

Human contaminated from raw or poorly cooked fish containing larvae of this nematode from the genus Anisakis. Once ingested, the larva enters the gastric mucosa. The symptoms should start a few hours after ingestion by violent epigastric pains suggestive of peritonitis. The diagnosis and treatment are carried out by an emergency endoscopy which discovers and extirpates the larvae.
