Anobium punctatum – Adult specimens of the common furniture beetle

The common furniture beetle is a woodboring insect. In the larval stage it bores on wood and feeds upon it. The holes are perfectly round and 1.0-1.5 mm in diameter. Adult Anobium punctatum measure 2.7–4.5 mm in length. It has a brown ellipsodial body with a pronotum resembling a monk’s cowl.
