Tunga penetrans – Fed adult female and eggs

When not fed, adult sand flea looks like a small (1 mm) flea. After mating, females embed into the dermis, and their distended abdomens appear like clumps of mistletoe. On this picture, the abdomen has broken, thus releasing oval eggs.
