Scabies – Vesicles along with scratch lesions

France, CHU Nice Parasitologie-Mycologie

Scabies infection typically presents as a very pruririginous eruption. Often the pruritus is worse at night. The classic lesion of scabies is the burrow. This threadlike, wavy, gray-white papule is several millimeters in length, and is caused by female mites digging in stratum corneum. The end of the burrow may be marked by a small vesicle, which indicates the presence of the mite. Burrows are most likely found in interdigital spaces of the hand. They can be difficult to see due to the presence of scratch lesions.
