Triatoma infestans – Adult kissing bug specimen

Insecta, Heteroptera, Reduvidae. Brown, elongate bug. Antennas implanted halfway between eyes and head tip. Vector for Chagas’ disease in Southern Cone countries. The eradication is ongoing, thus stopping house transmission of the disease. Only one focus of T. infestans remains in the wild, in Bolivia.
