Pear-shaped second-stage larvae. Bulbous anterior tip, narrowed and smooth posterior tip. Ovoid and elongate 3d stage larva. Transmission relies upon blood-feeding arthropods that act as phoretic vectors for the transportation of the eggs. Disease present in Central and tropical South America.
