Schizophyllum commune - Macroscopic characteristics (3-week-old culture on Sabouraud agar)

Sample of maxilliary sinus inoculated on Sabouraud agar without cycloheximide. Three-week-old culture at 25°C of Schizophyllum commune dikaryotic isolate: medusoid fruiting bodies with gill-like folds under surface. Note the presence of exudation droplets. This basidiomycete is usually found in forests, but it may be responsible for pulmonary or sinus diseases.
