Determination of minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) for antifungal drugs using the Etest Method

This method relies on the use of commercial strips impregnated with predefined concentration gradient of antifungal. The MIC value (µg/mL) is read where the ellipse of inhibition intersects the strip. For azoles, MIC reading is performed at 80% inhibition for yeasts. Here, this C. albicans isolate displays a important trailing growth but should be considered as fluconazole-susceptible (MIC=0.19 µg/mL).
