Mouth: Histoplasmosis due to Histoplasma capsulatum var. capsulatum

Otolaryngology: gumless tooth, tongue and palate ulcers are the usual manifestations of histoplasmosis . The diagnosis can be obtained by a simple smear which direct examination after staining will reveal the “small yeasts” often intracellular without any hyphae. It is Histoplasma capsulatum var. capsulatum.
