Lung biopsy - Aspergillus hyphae at histopathological examination [HES]

Proliferation of Aspergillus hyphae withing the lung parenchyma in an immunocompromised patient leads to a destruction of the alveolar tissue. Here Aspergillus fumigatus was isolated in culture. This aspect is pathognomonic of invasive aspergillosis.
