Lung - Adiaspiromycosis

This pulmonary infection is very rare in humans and is due to inhalation of spores of Emmonsia crescens. Beside, the macroscopic aspect of the lung presents numerous nodular lesions. The histopathology shows numerous large adiaspores (150-300 µm) with a thick cell wall. The tissue reaction is of epithelial giant cell granuloma type.
