Onychomycosis : black fungi hyphae - direct microscopic examination

In nail scrapings cleared and stained with chlorazol black, irregular septated fungal hyphae with melanized cell walls colored in dark brown, could be observed. This morphological aspect suggests a fungal infection due to a black fungi.
