Sinuses: Aspergillus fumigatus - conidiophore (microscopic direct examination)

On this sinus sample, we can see a nearly complete aspergillus conidial head. The presence of the oxygen into the sinus has stimulated its production. The aspect of the conidial head, the uniseriate phialids raised on the top of the vesicle are evoking Aspergillus fumigatus.
