Trichophyton rubrum (african type) - microscopic examination

The colonies of the african type of Trichophyton rubrum produce numerous smooth macroconidia, cigar shaped and some piriform microconidia. Notice that spiral hyphae are absent (differential diagnosis with T. mentagrophytes).
