Tinea capitis - ringworm of the scalp

France, Miegeville Michel

Ringworm on the scalp of a Buddhist Monk from Myanmar. The scaly, dry plaques of alopecia suggest an anthropophilic tinea capitis. This fungal infection is frequently affecting young children living in community. Notice the cutaneous patches on the neck. The mycological analysis of the scales will confirm the diagnosis and will specify the responsible species.
